The 2017 National College Student Mathematical Contest in Modeling was held in Dalian University of Technology. Around 110,000 contestants consisting of 36,375 teams from 1,418 institutes of higher education from 34 provinces and universities of Singapore and Australia competed in the contest. The contest examines innovation and the ability of solving practical problems applying mathematical methods and IT technology.

After instruction by the faculty adviser from School of Mathematics, students from LNU won a National First Prize, a Provincial First Prize, two Provincial Second Prizes, and a Provincial Third Prize.
