The final evaluation of the Sixth China Youth Volunteer Service Competition was held in Beijing and Jinan from November 12 to 13. One thousand projects were shortlisted for the final evaluation of the national competition. Through online defense and offline centralized evaluation, our university’s project, the “Sunflower Town”, won the gold medal. Bronze medals were won by the Liaoning University Green Boat Environmental Protection Project on “Environment Science Popularization and Joint Protection of Lucid Water and Lush Mountains” and the “Faith and Inheritance” Youth Theory Publicity Volunteer Service Project.
The Sunflower Town Project - Entire Industrial Chain Empowers the Century - Old Village to Solve Homesickness
Since the project was launched in November 2019, it has carried out 22 services over the past three years, with 246 volunteers and 536 clients helping the village to be rated as “China’s Most Beautiful Leisure Village”. All team members of the project continuously cherish the countryside and help farmers there, combining technological innovation with volunteer work in order to make dreams take root and proliferate on the land.
Liaoning University Green Boat Environmental Protection Project on “Environment Science Popularization: Joint Protection of Lucid Water and Lush Mountains”
The Liaoning University Green Boat Environmental Protection Project adheres to the motto of Liaoning University, which is to be “Noble in Morality, Extensive in Learning, Tenacious in Action, and Independent in Spirit”, and actively organizes practice teams to represent Liaoning as well as the entire country, while also bringing environmental science to enterprises, communities, campuses, and villages. In the past two years, the project has carried out more than 120 activities, including voluntary tree planting, on-the-spot investigation, and publicizing environmental-protection knowledge in the Horqin Sandy Land, Shenyang’s Hunhe River, and other places. The project’s work has been reported by the media, most notably Youth and Environment Science Popularization 365, more than 30 times, which exemplifies the project’s considerable social influence.
“Faith and Inheritance” Youth Theory Publicity Volunteer Service Project
“Faith and Inheritance” Youth Theory Publicity Volunteer Service Project is a volunteer service brand founded by the Marxist College of Liaoning University in March 2020. Relying on the leading roles of demonstration and discipline of Marxist Colleges, the project selects young experts, scholars, and outstanding graduate students as a means to promote the publicity and popularization of the Party’s innovative theoretical knowledge while also spreading the Party’s voice within the strength of the youth.
Since the launch of the project, team members of the project have regularly visited and given lectures to universities, enterprises, institutions, primary and secondary schools, communities, villages, and other locations. The project has carried out more than 200 theoretical lectures and volunteer service activities, with audiences of more than 6000 people, winning widespread acclaim from attendees from all walks of life.
The China Youth Volunteer Service Project Competition is a prestigious biennial youth event for all young volunteers from government agencies, enterprises and institutions, research institutes, universities, and other social organizations.
Winning awards should not be seen as an ending but rather a new starting point. The young teachers and students in Liaoning University must constantly pursue bravery and strive to be a new force in the country. Whether it is just few individuals or an entire group, we should remain lit with the university motto’s spirit of being “Noble in Morality, Extensive in Learning, Tenacious in Action, and Independent in Spirit” and imprint these ideas in our words and deeds. In the future, we will make great efforts to realize our dreams, working diligently to carry out our mission.
