Top-Tier International Symposium on Economic and Trade Cooperation and Investment in ASEAN and East Asia in the Digital Economy Era Held at LNU
On June 14–15, a top-tier international symposium, entitled “Improving ASEAN: East Asia Trade and Investment in Digital Economy Era,” was held at Liaoning University. Nearly 100 renowned experts and scholars in related fields, including top officials and former officials from some ASEAN countries, international organizations, as well as leaders from relevant departments, such as the Ministry of Commerce and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, gathered in Shenyang to discuss new paths for economic and trade cooperation and investment in ASEAN and East Asia during the digital economy era.
For more than three decades China and ASEAN have established dialogue with one another and have always maintained a friendly and cooperative relationship in international affairs. Over the last three years, China and ASEAN have been each other’s largest trading partners and have played an important supportive role in their bilateral trade. In light of this relationship, Liaoning University and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) jointly organized the symposium “Improving ASEAN: East Asia Trade and Investment in Digital Economy Era” in order to fully leverage their respective strengths and actively promote specific actions to build a new pattern of openness to the outside world.
The symposium held extensive discussions on regional trade and investment, with the aim of utilizing the comparative advantages of neighboring countries and the different stages of the production process, thereby promoting economic development between neighboring countries, strengthening social integration, and further enhancing the economic openness and cooperation of Liaoning Province. The symposium was held in a combined online and offline format, with the offline venue located at Liaoning University.
