On August 29th Yu Gongbin, Vice Chairman of Liaoning CPPCC, led a team at Liaoning University to conduct research activities on the topic of Improving the Social Governance System and the System and Mechanism of Rule of Law.
In order to learn more about the construction and development of LNU and hear relevant work reports, Yu and his team visited the Judicial Appraisal Center of Liaoning University, the Teaching and Research Achievements Exhibition in Lixing Building, the Scene Action Laboratory, the Cloud Economy Laboratory, and the Discipline Inspection and Supervision College. Yu emphasized how the province is deeply fulfilling the key speeches and instructions on the revitalization of Northeast China and Liaoning Province. Liaoning is now fully implementing the spirits of the 20th National Congress of the CPC to carry out the newly-set breakthrough actions in a wide-ranging manner. As an institution listed in the “Double First-Class” university project, Liaoning University should take full advantage to its role as a comprehensive university. With its strengths in the disciplines of economics, law, management science, and education of Marxist theory, Liaoning University can offer advice and suggestions on improving the social governance system and the system and mechanism of rule of law as well as serving the newly-set breakthrough actions in Liaoning Province.
At the symposium, Yu made positive remarks on Liaoning University's achievements in discipline construction, real problem-oriented talent training, service to society, and teaching team building. He emphasized that Liaoning University should actively play a leading role in the local region by giving special focus on strengthening its advantages, compensating for weak links, and continuing to promote the connotative development of its overall disciplines, using those found in the “Double First-Class” disciplines as its guide. Liaoning University should accelerate its efforts in deepening the integration of politics, industries, education, and research; establish contacts with cities and enterprises; carry out scientific and technological innovation; and produce high-quality scientific research results by relying on the Urban Research Institute of Liaoning University. Further, Liaoning University should give full play to the advantages of think tanks; actively make suggestions on Liaoning's economic and social development around issues such as social governance, legal environment construction, letters, visits, and its aging population; and strive to produce high-level consultation results. In telling the “Liaoning story” well, Liaoning University will make its voice heard by publicizing the province's new appearance, actions, and responsibilities. With these efforts, more people will enjoy Liaoning and establish their roots here in order to achieve their dreams and, consequently, demonstrate greater responsibilities in achieving the Liaoshen Campaign within the new era.
On behalf of the Party Committee of LNU, Pan Yishan welcomed Yu and his team and thanked the CPPCC in Liaoning Province for its long-term care and support. He reported the overall situation of Liaoning University, mentioning that the university has always stayed committed to the fundamental task of training virtuous talents while serving the national innovation-driven development strategy and all-round revitalization of Liaoning. Utilizing the concept that serving 14 cities and one district in Liaoning Province means serving the nationally-minded strategy, Liaoning University adheres to “going out, going deep, and going up” in order to fully integrate Chinese-style modernization into real practices in Liaoning Province, thereby providing talent and intellectual support for Liaoning's economic and social development. President Yu Miaojie remarked on the “Double First-Class” construction of the university from the aspects of discipline construction, talent training, teaching staff building, platform construction, landmark achievement output, and social and international influence enhancement. He stressed that the university would continue to fully leverage its academic advantages, support university experts in actively offering suggestions on major issues of economic and social development in the province, and contribute to the wisdom and strength of Liaoning in achieving the Liaoshen Campaign in the new era.
The heads of the relevant functional departments of the CPPCC participated in the research. Pan Yishan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Liaoning University, and Yu Miaojie, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and LNU President, joined the research and attended the symposium. The symposium was attended by Sun Shiguo, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Liaoning University, Zhang Hongxin, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, Vice Presidents Shi Baodong and Huo Chunhui, and the heads of relevant functional departments.
