On May 15, 2024, Wang Mingyu, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC in Liaoning Province conducted research activities at Liaoning University on the study and life of international students from Cambodia.
Vice President Wang Mingyu and his delegation came to the Chinese class of the Cambodian students and had a cordial conversation with them to learn more about the students’ Chinese level, courses and study duration. During the class break, the students sang a Chinese song for the visitors.
Subsequently, Vice President Wang Mingyu and his delegation held a meeting on the Cambodian students’ study and life in Liaoning Province, which was presided over by Luo Wenbo, Member of the Party group and Deputy Director of the Educational Department of Liaoning Province.
At the meeting, he received the report of the work on Cambodian students at Liaoning University and the report of the educational opening up of the Educational Department of Liaoning Province.
Vice President Wang Mingyu thought highly of Liaoning University’s practices of signing a cooperative agreement with General Chamber of Commerce of Liaoning Province in Cambodia and launching an innovative model of joint training of international students in a short time span of two months. He stressed that this model is of great significance for Liaoning University to expand its enrollment in Cambodia and even Southeast Asia and serves as a good example for promoting educational cooperation between Liaoning Province and countries along the Belt and Road Initiative. He added that Cambodia being an old friend of China with enduring friendship, the two countries enjoy huge potential to cooperate in various fields. The successful study of the Cambodian students in Liaoning Province is achieved under the joint efforts of the CPPCC in Liaoning Province and the Sihanoukville Province in Cambodia. He emphasized that as a national ‘Project 211’ key construction university and a national ‘Double First-Class’ university, Liaoning University should give full play to its role as a pacesetter. By summing up the experience of training models of international students and promoting the management of international students studying in China, Liaoning University should work to build a brand of ‘studying in China’ and cultivate more students who are friendly to China and know China well. With these efforts, more outstanding international students will stay in Liaoning Province after graduation and contribute to the revitalization in the region.
Vice President Wang Mingyu also expressed expectations for the Cambodian students, hoping that they would cherish the study opportunity at Liaoning University, care for and reach out to each other and make more friends. He added that they should make full use of the school’s high-quality educational resources, acquire more professional knowledge and advanced skills to apply them into practice. He hoped that they would live up to the expectations of their families far away from home and strive to boost China-Cambodia friendship and promote the building of a China-Cambodia community with a shared future.
Wang Xiaoqing, a Cambodian student also spoke as a student representative. Leaders attending the meeting presented souvenirs to the Cambodian students. The participants took a group photo.
Han Yuqi, Director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Overseas Chinese (Foreign Affairs) Committee of the CPPCC in Liaoning Province, Liu Tianyu, Deputy Director of the committee and Luo Wenbo, Deputy Director of the Educational Department of Liaoning Province presented at the research activities. Yu Miaojie, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of Liaoning University also joined the activities.
