Hosted by Liaoning University and the Institute of High Energy Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the BESⅢ Collaboration Meeting in Summer 2024 was successfully held from July 2 to July 6, 2024. More than 300 experts, scholars and graduate students from China, Germany, Italy, the United States, Sweden, India, South Korea, Turkey, Thailand, Britain and other countries attended this international conference. Professor Qiu Huanguang, Vice President of Liaoning University and researcher Li Haibo from the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and spokesman of BESⅢ Collaboration Group attended the opening ceremony. Li Yongqing, Dean of the School of Physics and Deputy Deans Ding Yong and Liu Shixing attended the conference, which was presided over by Liu Kuiyong, Dean of the Graduate School of Liaoning University.

Vice President Qiu Huanguang delivered a speech at the opening ceremony by extending the welcome of the experts from home and abroad and introducing the history of the university and the School of Physics. He noted that as a key construction institution under the ‘Project 211’ and the ‘Double First-Class’ initiative, the economic discipline at Liaoning University has been selected into the ‘101 Plan’ of the Ministry of Education and the School of Physics also enjoys a solid history starting from 1958. He shared the outstanding achievements made by Liaoning University and the School of Physics in recent years, particularly the achievements made by the research team in particle physics. He finally wished the conference a huge success.

The international conference lasted for five days with one main venue and six sub-venues, offering 150 academic reports. Topics such as the running status of BEPCⅡ accelerator and BESⅢ detector, the latest progress of physical software and computing platform and the latest research progress and important physical achievements of light hadron, charm dipole, charm hadron, QCD, new physics and computing software group were discussed. As Shandong University of Science and Technology was approved to be a new member, the BESⅢ collaboration group has reached 82 with over 600 individuals from 16 countries. This conference also decided that the BESⅢ Collaboration Meeting in Winter 2024 would be held in Southeast University from December 2 to 6, 2024.

BEPC, the first scientific apparatus in China, was put into use in 1988 and upgraded to BEPCⅡ in 2009 to be an international leading accelerator facility in the Tao-Can Energy Zone. Since its operation in 2009, it has successfully collected the world’s largest data sample of electron-positron collision in the Tao-Can Energy Zone (2-4.9GeV) and made tremendous influential and significant progress in the high-precision frontier of hadron physics and the search for new physics beyond the standard model. Staring from 2009, BESⅢ has published nearly 600 high-level papers, leading the physical research of the Tao-Can Energy Zone in the world.
