On August 23, 2024, the National Natural Science Foundation of China issued the Notice on the Evaluation Result of the Acceptance of Applications by the National Natural Science Foundation of China in 2024. The result showed that 22 projects from Liaoning University were approved with a total funding of around 7.99 million RMB.

Liaoning University started the project application of the National Natural Science Foundation in Oct. 2023. The application work was conducted to improve the quality and efficiency of science and technology services by coordinating the university and related schools and colleges. The university conducted a whole process tracking model on the key projects selected to fully unleash their potential. By inviting experts to forge a mentor system, the schools and colleges were responsible for a primary review while the review process from peers and the university was also carried out. As the arrangement was deployed at an early date and different resources were also mobilized at Liaoning University, sound development was guaranteed in terms of both the quality and number of the approved projects.

With the joint efforts of all schools and colleges, the number of applications at Liaoning University reached a record high of 265. The total number of approved projects also achieved the best performance in history. Among them, four projects in economic and management field were approved, achieving the best result since the application. Also, the Faculty of History won for the first time a national natural science fund. This marked the joint efforts made by all the scientific researchers at the university and it is also an outstanding achievement in continuously revitalizing the development of science and engineering disciplines and the development of ‘Double First-class’.
