LNU Holds 2024 Undergraduate Opening Ceremony and Military Training Mobilization Conference

As the cool and refreshing autumn opens a new chapter, Liaoning University (LNU) held the 2024 undergraduate opening ceremony and military training mobilization conference at Puhe Campus on September 15. Secretary of the CPC Committee Pan Yishan, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President Yu Miaojie, Vice President Li Yupeng, Secretary of Commission for Discipline Inspection Zhang Hongxin, Vice President Shi Baodong, Vice President Huo Chunhui and Vice President Qiu Huanguang attended the opening ceremony. The ceremony was also attended by Zhang Jinxing, an alumni in Applied Chemistry in 2000 and professor at the Physics Department of Beijing Normal University, Zheng Guo, a representative of high schools with high quality students and president of Huludao No.1 Senior Middle School, Qi Zhongbing, a political instructor and Lieutenant Colonel of No.32296 Army, as well as officers of teaching units, departments and students of the three campuses. The ceremony was presided over by Li Yupeng.

Pan Yishan expressed his warmest welcome and heartfelt congratulations to the 2024 students and sent a message to freshmen with the theme of ‘being an inheritor with LNU’s temperament’. He stressed that the temperament, characterized by the revolutionary spirit, taking responsibilities, inclusiveness and openness as well as diligence and self-independence is achieved by generations at LNU in their study, work and life, which is the common value pursued by all.

He noted that classroom teaching, extracurricular activities and campuses provide a good channel for students at the university to nurture their temperament. He hoped that after four years’ study at the university, the students would truly become the inheritors of LNU’s temperament by going out of the campuses, going into the local community and going up to a higher level. He expected the students could spend more time and energy to do meaningful things and realize their values.

Finally, he called on students to train themselves in real  scenarios. By doing so, they could enhance their skills and nurture their temperament, enjoy university life and achieve their dreams.

Yu Miaojie delivered a speech on military training mobilization. On behalf of the university, he extended a warm welcome to the instructor team, heartfelt thanks to the faculty and staff and cordial greetings to the freshmen in high spirits.

He noted that military training in colleges and universities is vital to deliver on the message made by General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on strengthening national defense education for all to train high-quality reserve soldiers for national defense and military building. It is also important by training them to be socialist builders and successors with all-round development in morality, intelligence, physique and beauty.

He put forward expectations to the students from four aspects and encouraged them to train themselves in a rigorous environment to launch a meaningful and colorful university life.

Zheng Guo, President of Huludao No.1 High School spoke at the ceremony.

 

   

 

Professor Hu Fengqing, Dean of the School of Life Sciences spoke on behalf of the university teachers at the ceremony.

 

   

 

Zhang Jingyi, a 2021 student in International Business from Asia-Australia Business College spoke on behalf of the current students at the ceremony.

 

   

 

Peng Maohua, a 2024 student in Digital Economy from the School of International Economics and International Relations spoke on behalf of the freshmen at the ceremony.

 

   

 

University counselors and student representatives wore badges for freshmen representatives.

The ceremony came to a successful end with warm applause from teachers and students.
