On January 17, the 2025 “Vast Skies & Tranquil Lands of Liaoning” New Year celebration event and the Closing Ceremony of the Russian Student Winter Camp were grandly held in the Golden Hall on the first floor of the Institute of International Education at Liaoning University. Party Secretary Pan Yishan and Deputy Party Secretary Zhang Hongxin attended the event alongside international students from over 20 countries and 52 teachers and students participating in the Russian Winter Camp.

Party Secretary Pan Yishan congratulated the successful hosting of the Russian Student Winter Camp and highly praised the significant role of this event in cultural exchange between China and Russia. He noted that the Spring Festival, as the most important traditional festival in China, is a symbol of farewell to the old and welcoming the new, as well as a beautiful time for family reunions and harmonious celebrations. By organizing the New Year celebration event, not only have the international students been provided with a better opportunity to understand China’s history, culture, and traditions, but it has also served as a platform to showcase Chinese traditional culture and promote friendship and understanding between China and the world. Then he presented New Year gifts to the representatives of the Russian Winter Camp students and the international students. Deputy Party Secretary Zhang Hongxin awarded the “Best Organization Award” to the leading teachers of this winter camp.

Dumplings are a symbol of unity and happiness, carrying the meaning of togetherness and prosperity. During the event, Party Secretary Pan Yishan and Deputy Party Secretary Zhang Hongxin joined the international students in making dumplings, experiencing the unique charm of Chinese traditional food culture. The international students presented a variety of cultural performances during the celebration, expressing their love and best wishes for China through songs and dances, creating a festive atmosphere filled with joy and warmth.


Officials from the Office of International Affairs, the Institute of International Education, and the Confucius Institute, along with faculty members of the IIE, also participated in the event.
