On April 18, the Sharing Event titled ‘Literature and Youth’, hosted by the Publicity Department of the Liaoning Provincial Party Committee and jointly undertaken by the People’s Literature Publishing House, Liaoning Publishing Group, and Liaoning University, was held at Puhe Campus of Liaoning University.

Liang Xiaosheng and Li Er, winners of the 10th Mao Dun Literature Prize, and Dong Xi, winner of the 11th Mao Dun Literature Prize, three renowned literary figures, had a face-to-face interaction with more than 600 faculty members and students, sharing their insights on literary creation and reading experiences. Their participation added a rich literary ambiance into the 14th Liaoning Provincial Reading Festival.
During the event, the three writers shared their perspectives on Literature and Youth, offering both profound reflections on the essence of literature and earnest messages to young students. During the interactive session, students actively raised questions on topics such as deep reading and reality and fiction. The collision of ideas and exchange of insights created a vibrant and intellectually rich atmosphere at the event.
“Reading is the second pair of eyes for young people to perceive the world. Especially in this era of fragmented information, reading has become the best way for us to reconstruct our understanding and conduct in deep thinking. Through reading, we can see wider vistas of the world.” After the sharing session, Yin Xinyi, a student from the School of Journalism and Communication of Liaoning University, said that “Today’s event has made me more certain that reading is never just about acquiring knowledge; it’s an essential course for our growth as young people, allowing us to nourish our souls and enhance our qualities in the fragrance of books.”
This event is not just a reading sharing activity, but a spiritual empowerment for the youth. As the 14th Liaoning Provincial Reading Festival continues to unfold, the atmosphere of Love to Read, Read Good Books, and Read with Wisdom is gradually permeating campuses, integrating into daily life, and spreading to society at large.
