LNU Team Wins National First Prize in 2025 ICC Chinese Moot Court Competition

From April 11 to 13, 2025, the 2025 International Criminal Court (ICC) Chinese Moot Court Competition was held grandly at the Qingdao Campus of Shandong University. A total of 105 university teams from across the country participated in the event. After the written pleadings evaluation round, 45 teams advanced to the oral round. Following two intense days of courtroom debates, team from the College of Law of Liaoning University achieved outstanding results, winning the National First Prize in the ICC Chinese Moot, along with four individual awards: Best Prosecution Memorial Award, Best Defense Memorial Award, Best Prosecution Team Award and  Best Defense Team Award.  

   

 

 

In 2025, the Liaoning University ICC Chinese Moot Court Competition team was coached by Professor Gao Ning and Teacher Su Bojia from the College of Law, with Instructor Zhao Qiuye serving as the team leader. The team captain was Su Haixin, a 2023 postgraduate student from the College of Law. The official team members included Du Yanan, Yan Bo, Shi Xiaobing, Rao Sheyu. The team also received valuable support from assistant members, including Wang Yixuan, Lai Shuwen, Huo Yanhong, Wang Qiuyi, Li Xinrui. Additionally, the team was aided by alumni Gu Fang and Li Ziyue from previous Liaoning University ICC teams.  

   

   

Faculty Advisors  

   

Gao Ning, Doctor of Law, Professor, and Vice Dean for Teaching at the Law School. She has taught over ten undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including Public International Law, integrating value cultivation, knowledge and skill development in her pedagogy. She has earned many outstanding honors, such as “Famous Teacher for Undergraduate Education” (Liaoning Province), “Outstanding University Communist Party Member” (Liaoning Province), “Most Inspiring Teacher” (Liaoning Province), Distinguished Teaching Professor under the “Talent Revitalization Program”, “Advanced Individual in University Ethics” (Shenyang), “Famous Teacher for Undergraduate Education” (Liaoning University), “Outstanding Youth and Model Woman Contributor”. As a dedicated faculty advisor, she has guided law students to achieve remarkable achievements in prestigious international moot court competitions. She has presided over many undergraduate education reform projects under China’s Ministry of Education and Liaoning province. She also received the First Prize for Undergraduate Teaching Achievement Awards at both provincial and university levels.  

   

   

Su Bojia, Lecturer at the College of Law, holds a Ph.D. in Law and specializes in teaching and research of procedural law and evidence law. She has published multiple academic papers in core journals including Journal of Northeastern University (Social Science Edition), Evidence Science, and Western Law Review. She has participated in several research projects, including General Program of the National Social Science Fund, Key Program of the Liaoning Law Association Social Science Fund, Youth Program of the Liaoning Social Science Planning Fund. Her legal policy recommendations have received endorsements from vice-ministerial level leaders. With extensive experience in international moot court competitions, she served as team member (2018), team captain (2019), assistant coach (2020) for Liaoning Universitys International Criminal Court (ICC) Chinese Moot Court Competition team.  

   

   

Zhao Qiuye is an instructor for postgraduate students, Party Secretary of the Sixth Party Branch for Postgraduate Students of the College of Law Secretary of Liaoning University. Her study focuses on the ideological and political education and student management. She has won many honors as a leading teacher to win National Second Prize at the International Criminal Court (ICC) Chinese Moot Court Competition in Apr 2024.  

 

 

   

Since 2018, Liaoning Universitys ICC Chinese Moot Court team has won multiple first prizes and individual awards in the competition. These outstanding achievements fully demonstrate the effectiveness of our universitys Collaborative Innovation Base for Cultivating Foreign-related Legal Talents, as well as the significant results we have attained in nurturing high-quality professionals in the field of international rule of law.
