Recently, Professor Yu Miaojie, a National People’s Congress deputy, a fellow of the International Economic Association and President of Liaoning University, during an interview with the Hong Kong Wen Wei Po, centered on the theme of The Beauty of Liaoning: A Gift from Time to the World, deeply elaborated on the unique advantages and opportunities of Liaoning’s comprehensive revitalization, and looked ahead to the development prospects of LNU in aspects such as cultural relics and archaeology, discipline construction, and cooperation with Hong Kong. The content of the report is now sorted out and reprinted as follows.

The beauty of Liaoning lies in the momentum of its comprehensive revitalization brought about by favorable timing, geographical advantages and harmonious human relations, and also in the perfect combination of its unique accumulated endowments that are ready to burst forth and the opportunities of the times. The beauty of Liaoning is embodied in its uniquely advantageous resource strengths, and the saying “Northeast China is a land full of charm and Liaoning is a treasure trove brimming with opportunities” has deeply taken root in people’s hearts. It is also reflected in the profound transformation of its business environment. Liaoning attaches great importance to the private economy, and it has become the top choice for entrepreneurs seeking investment opportunities beyond Shanhaiguan. It lies in the development opportunities brought by favorable timing, geographical advantages and harmonious human relations. It serves as the gateway for Northeast China’s opening up and is an important hub of the Northeast Asian economic circle. What’s more, it lies in its future potential. Liaoning has reversed the population loss trend that has lasted for 11 years, and the situation of “Talents are flocking to Liaoning and Shenyang” has been formed.
LNU boasts disciplinary strengths in multiple fields, including economics and history. In recent years, its Archaeology and Museology School has played a leading and participatory role in major national archaeological projects, such as Investigation and Research on Paleolithic Sites in Changbai Mountain, The Process of Social Civilization of Hongshan Culture, and Goguryeo Culture. These efforts have laid a solid theoretical foundation for showcasing the beauty of Liaoning.
In the future, based on its long-term cooperation with Hong Kong, LNU will give full play to its distinctive advantages and carry out cooperation at a higher level and in a broader range of fields. It will focus on promoting in-depth docking of its advantageous disciplines with those of Hong Kong universities, and jointly build an academic highland with international influence. Moreover, it will further strengthen scientific research cooperation, expand the scale of mutual visits by teachers and collaborative research, and facilitate academic exchanges and the transformation of research achievements. Additionally, Liaoning University will continue to promote joint student cultivation programs, innovate the joint cultivation model, and create more learning opportunities for students from both places.
