On September 9, Liaoning University (LNU) held its Teachers’ Symposium to mark the 41st Teachers’ Day at the Administration Building, Puhe Campus. Pan Yishan, Secretary of the University CPC Committee, attended and addressed the meeting; Deputy Secretary Zhang Hongxin chaired the session.

On behalf of the University Party Committee, Pan Yishan extended festive greetings to all faculty members, praised their outstanding contributions to the university’s development over the past year, and expressed heartfelt gratitude for their tireless efforts. He then put forward five expectations. First, deeper devotion. Teaching should be regarded as a mission. Every teacher must embrace a love for family and country, keep the nation’s priorities at heart, take the three-foot podium as a “battleground,” and strengthen the sense of responsibility toward both the university and the cause of education, remaining true to the original aspiration of nurturing students. Second, Higher aspirations. Benchmark against peer institutions, cultivate and apply for national-level talent titles, and strive for new breakthroughs. Teachers should set loftier career goals and actively pursue high-level honors. Senior faculty must fully play the “pass-it-on, help-out, bring-along” role to accelerate the growth of young colleagues and expand the university’s talent pool. Third, Greater scholarship. Closely align research with the real needs of Liaoning and the whole Northeast, carry out in-depth academic and applied studies, and use “practical” and “profound” knowledge to solve key regional problems, thereby demonstrating the value of a university in serving local development. Fourth, Longer vision. In instruction, talent cultivation and social service, shun short-term gains and plan careers and projects from a long-range perspective. Persist in long-term investment in scientific innovation and student development rather than worrying about momentary gains or losses, laying a solid foundation for the university’s sustained progress. Fifth, Higher standards. Whether in classroom quality, research output or daily efficiency, demand more of yourself. While fulfilling tasks, dig into their deeper value and significance, and let individual advancement drive breakthroughs in the university’s overall level.
To effectively support teacher development and facilitate the achievement of school goals, Pan Yishan has put forward three clear requirements for relevant school departments: Firstly, optimize service conditions by proactively understanding teachers’ difficulties and needs, and addressing their practical issues in work and life, enabling teachers to focus more energy on core tasks such as student development, scientific research, and publishing high-level academic papers. Secondly, improve the office environment by providing teachers with high-quality office conditions, creating a comfortable and efficient working environment to offer hardware support for teaching and research activities. Thirdly, simplify administrative processes by thoroughly reviewing existing administrative procedures, eliminating redundant steps, and consolidating repetitive tasks, providing teachers with convenient services, reducing the time and energy spent on non-teaching and non-research activities, allowing them to focus more on core educational and academic research tasks, and effectively alleviating teachers’ burdens and enhancing teaching and research efficiency, thus institutionally ensuring the coordinated advancement of teacher development and school goals.

Zhang Hongxin presided over the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by the CPC Standing Committee members Tong Yan and Wu Jilong, heads of relevant functional departments, and faculty representatives.
