On September 27-28, the opening ceremony of Liaoning University’s 50th Track-and-Field Games and the 2025 undergraduate military-training results display were held at the Puhe Campus Stadium. Party Secretary Pan Yishan attended and delivered the opening address. University leaders Zhang Hongxin, Huo Chunhui, Wang Peng, Yan Hai, and Lu Hui were present, together with Lieutenant-Colonel Song Yu, deputy head of the Teaching Affairs Office of the Army Artillery & Air-Defense Academy NCO School. Yan Hai presided over the ceremony.

In his speech Pan Yishan stressed that LNU has always placed high importance on physical education as a key part of its overall talent-cultivation strategy. “This sporting event, spanning half a century, has long transcended mere competition; it has become a carrier of the very spirit of Liaoning University,” he said. “It records the courageous, persistent, and excellence-seeking figures on the track, interprets the collective power of crossing the river in the same boat, and witnesses the continuous improvement of sports facilities and the flourishing of sports culture on campus.”

He emphasized that sport is an essential element of the “fivefold education” and an important way to forge sound personalities and inspire the spirit of striving. In recent years the university has systematically built a “whole-person cultivation through sport” system whose effects are already visible - from last semester’s popular Graduation Health Run to the upcoming New-Student Health Run, and from the “Golden Ball Festival” to the various sports clubs. Sport at Liaoning university has become deeply embedded in campus culture. He hopes students would take the 50th Games as a new starting point, integrating the fighting spirit, teamwork, and sense of timing learned on the field into their studies and life plans. “Exercise one hour every day, make sport part of life, let health be the background color of struggle, temper your will and perfect your personality through sport, and truly grow into pillars who resonate with the times and share the destiny of the nation,” he said.

Zhang Hongxin summarized the military-training results. “During the 21 days, students not only mastered basic military skills and deeply understood the weight of national defense, but also turned the ideals of caring for, loving, building, and safeguarding national defense into unshakable conviction and conscious action,” he noted. “They honed tenacious willpower, forged iron discipline, and elevated collective spirit. This precious asset will lay a solid foundation for university life and even the whole life journey, becoming a lifelong source of strength.” He encouraged students to use the character forged in military training as the boat and lasting endurance as the oar. The ultimate goal being to pursue individual excellence while achieving collective synergy, and merging their youthful years into the surging river of history while writing a magnificent chapter worthy of the times.

The opening ceremony featured the 2025 freshmen’s formation march, military-boxing display, and the entrance parade of referees and athletes. Loud slogans, powerful steps, and perfectly synchronized moves fully displayed the LNU spirit of striving, progress, and the pursuit of excellence.

In the oath-taking segment, athlete representative Wang Junshi from the Law school and referee representative Li Bingyang from the Sports Faculty Department took solemn oaths.

Finally, Yan Hai declared the 50th Liaoning University Track-and-Field Games officially open. Heads of all functional departments, teaching units, and directly affiliated units attended the ceremony.
