Recently, the final round of the 11th National College Student Physics Experiment Competition (Innovation) opened at Central South University. As the only physics discipline competition recognized by the Ministry of Education among national college student academic competitions, it represents the most challenging and influential university physics contest in China. The event is organized by the Physics Group of the National Federation of Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers in Higher Education Institutions and the National College Students Physics Experiment Competition Organizing Committee. This year, 3,260 teams from 712 universities, comprising 20,000 teachers and students, participated in the preliminary round, with over 2,000 advancing to the on-site final. Liaoning University's team, led by Professor Cao Shuo with Associate Professor Chen Xihao and Professor Liu Shixing as instructors, won the first prize in the final. Students Zhang Enrui, Gong Ning, Li Jingsen, Deng Mengru, Qiao Mengde and others presented their instrument developed for the competition entry, titled “Development of a Low-cost Single-pixel Imaging Teaching System Based on Deep Learning,” which excelled in the instrument demonstration and defense sessions.

The innovative project features a “dual-mode reconstruction engine” and a “real-time preview mode.” By utilizing a rotating mask plate to replace expensive digital micromirror devices, it provides a complete and easily replicable solution for transforming cutting-edge computational imaging technology into teaching practice.
