The university organized 25 special promotion meetings on real problems in social reality scenarios for all grass-roots colleges, with more than 1,500 frontline teachers participating and nearly 100 off-campus enterprises gathering on campus. Enterprise representatives came with lists of real problems, eagerly expecting teachers and students of Liaoning University to jointly tackle them. Shenyang Huabo Technology Co., Ltd. put forward technical research needs, hoping to deepen the in-depth integration of industry, university and research, and realize the transformation of scientific research achievements into practical products. Combining the frontline industry reality and the current situation of enterprise operation and development, Liaoning Shuanglian International Trade Co., Ltd. proposed the core demand for university-enterprise collaborative research.

All colleges have fully utilized this beneficial opportunity to formulate detailed implementation plans, clarify objectives, tasks, division of responsibilities and time nodes, so as to provide high-quality guarantees for teachers and students to participate in integrated practice and relieve their worries.

Under the overall layout of the whole university acting as a single entity, a full-chain collaborative system of problem identification-project cultivation-condition support-achievement transformation has been gradually smoothed out.

“All teachers should strengthen the conscious action of problem orientation, resolutely break the inertial thinking of working behind closed doors, and firmly establish a clear orientation of problems coming from practice and achievements applied to practice.” Pan Yishan, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, required every teacher to often ask themselves: Is my research direction closely linked to the development needs of Liaoning’s 22 industrial clusters? The projects released at the promotion meetings are open to all teachers, encouraging teachers from different disciplines, positions and research directions to actively participate. Whether they are scholars specializing in basic theories, experts focusing on applied research, or teachers devoting themselves to frontline teaching, they can, based on their own academic accumulation and professional insights, extensively collect problems through online and offline channels such as Kanguawang (a professional platform for industry-university-research collaboration), urban research institutes in various places, industry forums and field investigations, apply for special projects, and put forward countermeasures and suggestions. All colleges have also incorporated the effectiveness of teachers’ docking with external resources into the performance appraisal system, providing policy guarantees for teachers to go out of the campus to find real scenarios, enter the society to find real problems, and step into the forefront to seek practical innovation. A vivid scene of one teacher, multiple enterprises, a number of projects and a series of achievements is being staged at Liaoning University.

Focusing on real problems, with full connection of integrated links. Driven by the concept of integrated school-running, real problems in Liaoning’s social reality scenarios such as treatment of shiitake mushroom root waste in Muniuzhen Town, Xiuyan County, Anshan City, plastic film residue in potato planting in Xiaozhuangzi Town, Huludao City, and peculiar smell in water quality of Dahuofang Reservoir have been brought back to the university by teachers and students.
