On September 12–13, Liaoning University (LNU) hosted the Northeast regional qualifying round of the 12th China Management Case Competition. The competition was held under the guidance of the China National MBA Education Supervisory Committee, jointly organized by the China Management Case-sharing Center (CMCC) and the CAM Management Case Studies Society, hosted by the Business School of LNU, and co-organized with title sponsorship from Jilin Zhongzhijie Food Technology Development Co., Ltd.

Yan Hai, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and Vice President of LNU, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The judging panel comprised Professor Zhou Ning of Beihang University, Professor Yang Jianjun of Xi’an Jiaotong University, Professor Feng Mei of the University of Science and Technology Beijing, Professor Zhu Guowei of Hunan University, and Hua Xinhai, Vice President of ZTE Corporation. Representatives of the China Management Case-sharing Center, Jilin Zhongzhijie Food Technology Development Co., Ltd., Shenyang Feichi Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd., and other organizations and enterprises, along with faculty representatives from LNU, also attended.

In his speech, Yan Hai described management cases as a window into the development of our times. As the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China gathers momentum, the region urgently needs versatile business and management professionals with industry knowledge, an understanding of capital markets, technological expertise, and governance capabilities. It also needs practical governance and development solutions suited to local conditions that can be replicated and scaled up. Since its inception, the China Management Case Competition has upheld its mission of “empowering education through cases and enriching business education through practice.” By turning real markets into classrooms and business challenges into case-study questions, it has advanced reform in professional MBA education and provided an important platform for cultivating high-level management professionals, supporting national strategies, and strengthening the real economy. He expressed hope that the competition would promote mutual learning among universities in Northeast China, encourage exchanges on case teaching and practice-based education, and build a collaborative community for business talent development in support of the region’s comprehensive revitalization, enabling education and industry to reinforce each other.

The China Management Case-sharing Center and the Business School of LNU signed cooperation agreements on corporate case-study bases, first with Jilin Zhongzhijie Food Technology Development Co., Ltd. and then with Shenyang Feichi Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd.

The teams analyzed and presented assigned cases, drew on multiple research methods, and compiled relevant materials to examine opportunities arising from digital and intelligent transformation and the practical constraints on business expansion. Applying PEST analysis, the STP framework, value innovation theory, and brand repositioning theory, they proposed actionable approaches and systematic solutions covering technological upgrades, brand value creation, precise channel targeting, and other areas.

After the competition, Professor Zhou Ning, chair of the judging panel, gave a comprehensive assessment of the teams’ performances. Following nearly 10 hours of intense competition, the judges combined blind-review scores with assessments of the logic of the live head-to-head rounds, the originality of the proposals, and the professionalism of the answers to determine the results.
