Professor Huo Weidong is a Ph.D. in Economics, a second-level professor, and a doctoral supervisor. He is currently serving as the Deputy Director of the Faculty of Economics at Liaoning University. He formerly served as the Vice Dean of the School of International Business and the Dean of the School of Information Engineering at Southwest University of Finance and Economics. He was also designated by Sichuan Province and Chengdu City to serve as the President of Beijing Geely College, as Dean of Sunwah International Business School, Dean of Graduate School, and as Dean of School of Finance and Trade at Liaoning University (concurrently). Additionally, he is a Visiting Scholar at the University of Manitoba, Canada.

Professor Huo Weidong is a leading talent in scientific and technological innovation under the ‘Xingliao Talents’ program, an academic and technological leader in Sichuan Province, and a leading scholar in outstanding cadres and talents in Sichuan Province. He also serves as a member of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government Decision Advisory Committee, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Emerging Economies Research Society, as a member of the Education Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education (2013-2018), and as Chief Observer of Chengdu Daily.

Professor Huo Weidong’s main research areas are international finance and trade. He presided over and participated in major projects of the National Social Science Fund, major key projects of the Ministry of Education, the Provincial Party Committee, and the provincial government. In addition, he has published five works and three textbooks. His representative works are Study on RMB Area and Study on China-Asean Free Trade Area. He has won the ‘An Zijie International Trade Research Award’ twice, the ‘Liu Shibai Economics Award’ twice, and the Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Excellent Achievement Award many times. Several of his research results have been approved by the central government and the ministry and provinces. He has published more than 100 papers and comments. Two papers with Dr. Deng Fuhua were awarded top 10 of the Best Chinese Paper in International Finance in 2017 and top 10 of International Political Economy by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. One of his English papers won the best 1% in the academic field of web of science social sciences (as of February 2023).
