Abstract：The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China proposed the goal of building a "beautiful China". Building an ecological China first depends on the formation of ecological civilization awareness. Implementing ecological civilization education for college students is an important component of building an ecological country and an important link in cultivating their awareness of ecological civilization. Therefore, ecological civilization education for college students should be incorporated into the education system of higher education. Through ecological civilization education, college students should cultivate ecological awareness, form ecological civilization behaviors, and be the main body in consciously maintaining the ecological environment and promoting the construction of an ecological civilization society.

This paper first introduces the concepts related to ecological civilization education for college students, such as the connotation of ecology, the connotation of ecological civilization, and the connotation of ecological civilization for college students. This is the starting point of the research paper. Sorting out these concepts plays a fundamental role in analyzing the problems and improvement measures of life civilization education for college students. Secondly, based on the excellent traditional Chinese culture and Marxist ecological ethics, the paper analyzes the current situation of ecological civilization awareness and education among contemporary college students, and proposes the necessity and urgency of strengthening ecological civilization education among college students. This urgency is not only reflected in the fact that ecological civilization education is the key to cultivating ecological civilization awareness among college students, but also an inherent requirement for their comprehensive development, and is the foundation for building an ecological civilization society. Finally, the paper proposes ways to achieve ecological civilization education. Ecological civilization education for college students is a systematic and complex project, and the implementation path is not singular, mainly from the following aspects. Firstly, it is necessary to rely on classroom education and teaching to enable college students to master theoretical knowledge related to ecological civilization construction and form ecological cognition; The second is to implement thematic education to solve problems in classroom teaching and improve the timeliness of education; The third is to carry out extensive social practice activities, so that college students can form ecological awareness in social practice, actively participate in social practice to protect the ecological environment, form correct ecological values in practice, and form good ecological behavior.

In summary, through the analysis of ecological civilization education for college students, this article proposes the necessity and urgency of strengthening ecological education for college students, and proposes targeted improvement measures, hoping to provide useful reference and guidance for ecological civilization education for college students.
