ABSTRACT

Since the reform and opening up, my country’s economy has maintained rapid growth for a long time and has achieved world-renowned achievements. However, my country’s extensive economic development model in the past has also caused great waste of resources and great damage to the ecological environment, resulting in a series of negative environmental effects. Therefore, our country must take a sustainable green development path. The 14th Five-Year Plan issued in 2021 clearly states that: give full play to the comparative advantages of various regions, promote the rational flow and efficient agglomeration of various elements, promote the formation of a new pattern of land space development and protection with reasonable functional layout, complementary advantages, and high-quality development. At the same time, we will accelerate the green transformation of development methods, comprehensively improve resource utilization efficiency, coordinate high-quality economic development and high-level protection of the ecological environment, and promote green development. Therefore, it is of great significance to find such a path that conforms to the laws of economic development and industrial development to promote the development of green economy. Manufacturing is the main force to promote the development of the real economy, and improving the green economic efficiency is the core of promoting the development of the green economy. Therefore, it is very realistic to promote the development of green economy through exploring the influence of the comparative advantage on the agglomeration of the three intensive manufacturing industries, the influence of the agglomeration of the three intensive manufacturing industries on the green economic efficiency, and the influence of the comparative advantage on the green economic efficiency through the agglomeration of the three intensive manufacturing industries.

On the basis of combing relevant domestic and foreign literature, this paper subdivides comparative advantages into six categories and manufacturing into three categories. This paper consists of 8 chapters: Chapter 1 Introduction, including the background of the problem, significance of the research, research method, basic structure and main content, main innovation points and shortcomings. Chapter 2 literature review, which compares and analyzes the theoretical as well as empirical research results on comparative advantage, manufacturing agglomeration and green economic efficiency at home and abroad. Chapter 3 Mechanism analysis, analyzes the influence mechanism of comparative advantage on agglomeration, agglomeration on green economy efficiency and comparative advantage on green economy efficiency through agglomeration as intermediary dependent variable. It is deduced that comparative advantage is an important force to promote manufacturing agglomeration, and different types of manufacturing agglomeration have different influence mechanisms on green economy efficiency. Comparative advantage not only directly affects green economy efficiency, but also affects green economy efficiency through agglomeration as an intermediary variable. Chapter 4 analyzes the development status and characteristics of comparative advantage, manufacturing agglomeration and green economic efficiency in each region. Chapter 5 analyzes the effects of six types of comparative advantages on three types of intensive manufacturing agglomeration separately using panel regression models, and verifies that transaction costs will have moderating effects on six types of comparative advantages affecting three types of intensive manufacturing agglomeration. Chapter 6 analyzes the effects of three types of intensive manufacturing agglomeration on green economic efficiency using panel regression model and systematic GMM model, analyzes the effects of three types of intensive manufacturing agglomeration on green economic efficiency through two mediating variables of economic growth and energy consumption respectively using mediating effect model, and analyzes the three types of intensive manufacturing agglomeration on green economic efficiency using spatial static model and spatial dynamic model. The spatial effects of the three types of intensive manufacturing agglomerations on green economic efficiency are analyzed using spatial static and spatial dynamic models. Chapter 7 analyzes the effects of six types of comparative advantages on green economic efficiency through three types of intensive manufacturing agglomeration respectively using simple intermediary model and multiple intermediary model. Chapter 8 combines the findings of the study and puts forward suggestions for promoting the development of green economy in each region in three aspects, namely, giving full play to the comparative advantages of manufacturing industries, promoting manufacturing agglomeration and enhancing green economic efficiency, respectively.

The conclusions of this paper are as follows: (1) Different types of comparative advantages have different effects on the agglomeration of different types of manufacturing industries. For labor-intensive manufacturing agglomeration, all subdivided factor endowment comparative advantage and development environment comparative advantage show significant promoting effect, while development condition comparative advantage shows inhibition effect. For the agglomeration of capital-intensive manufacturing industries, the labor comparative advantage plays a significant inhibiting role, while the capital, technology and development conditions comparative advantage play a significant promoting role. For technology-intensive manufacturing agglomeration, labor comparative advantage plays a significant inhibiting role, while capital comparative advantage and all market factors comparative advantage play a significant promoting role.(2)Transaction costs will have a moderating effect on comparative advantage affecting manufacturing agglomeration. With the reduction of transaction costs, labor comparative advantage will further promote labor-intensive manufacturing agglomeration, and energy comparative advantage, technology comparative advantage and development conditions comparative advantage will inhibit labor-intensive manufacturing agglomeration. Development environment comparative advantage and energy comparative advantage will inhibit capital-intensive manufacturing agglomeration, while capital comparative advantage and technology comparative advantage will promote capital-intensive manufacturing agglomeration. Capital comparative advantage, technology comparative advantage, development conditions comparative advantage and development environment comparative advantage will promote technology-intensive manufacturing agglomeration.(3) Labor-intensive manufacturing agglomeration and capital-intensive manufacturing agglomeration will inhibit the green economic efficiency of itself and its surrounding areas, while technology-intensive manufacturing agglomeration will improve the green economic efficiency of itself and its surrounding areas. On the one hand, they will directly affect the green economy efficiency due to their externalities; on the other hand, they also indirectly affect the green economy efficiency by promoting economic growth and influencing energy consumption intensity. Meanwhile, it also indicates that the manufacturing upgrading is conducive to the improvement of green economy efficiency. At the same time, the green economy efficiency has significant positive spatial autocorrelation and spatial spillover effect, which indicates that the development of green economy needs the cooperation of multiple regional entities.(4)The market factors comparative advantage such as technology comparative advantage, development condition comparative advantage and development environment comparative advantage, will promote the improvement of green economy efficiency, which shows as follows: development environment comparative advantage > development condition comparative advantage > technology comparative advantage. The factor endowment comparative advantage, such as labor comparative advantage, energy comparative advantage and capital comparative advantage, will restrain the improvement of green economy efficiency, which shows as follows: energy comparative advantage > labor comparative advantage > capital comparative advantage. On the one hand, they will directly affect the green economy efficiency, on the other hand, they will also affect the green economy efficiency by promoting or inhibiting different types of manufacturing agglomeration.

There are three main innovations in this paper: Firstly, the manufacturing industry is subdivided into three types, and the comparative advantage of manufacturing industry is subdivided into six categories, so as to study the influence of comparative advantage and agglomeration of manufacturing industry on green economic efficiency in a more in-depth way. Secondly, it adds two mediating variables, namely, economic development level and energy consumption intensity, to further investigate the influence of different types of manufacturing agglomeration on green economic efficiency. Thirdly, the spatial role mechanism of green economic efficiency in the neighboring regions is more fully studied.
