Abstract

The coated Z-scheme Pd-BaZrO3@WO3 composite as a new-type sonocatalyst is first prepared. The sonocatalytic activity is evaluated through the degradation of diazinon under ultrasonic irradiation. Some influencing factors such as Pt-BaZrO3 and WO3 mass ratios, ultrasonic irradiation time, used times and catalyst dosage are investigated in detail. The main intermediate products are detected in the degradation process of diazinon. The possible mechanism of sonocatalytic degradation process caused by coated Z-scheme Pd-BaZrO3@WO3 composite was also proposed. The hydroxyl radicals (•OH) and holes are identified to further elaborate the possible mechanism. The coated Z-scheme Pd-BaZrO3@WO3 composite displays a good sonocatalytic activity because it can efficiently restrain recombination of photo-generated electrons and holes, increase utilization rate of light and provide almost 100% oxidization surface.
