Environmental change and construction of sustainable security

Abstract: Sustainable security is a new topic in the field of international political research in the 21st century. The core assumption is that we cannot control all the outcomes of non-security factors, but we must work to address their root causes. Climate change, resource competition, North-South issues, and global militarization are the drivers of sustainable security. With the transition of climate change from a scientific issue to high-level politics, environmental cooperation has been promoted from institutional construction to the concept of sustainability, and the mutual construction of sustainable security and environmental mechanisms, including various security concepts, makes the realization of sustainable security possible. Through the definition and analysis of the concept of sustainable security, the author proposes to strengthen global environmental governance and promote the system construction; To achieve global environmental equity, justice and sustainable development strategies; Promoting the development of new energy through international cooperation is the three main ways to build sustainable security. It is stressed that climate change, nuclear threat and unknown but foreseeable crisis have brought human beings to a critical moment of life and death. In order to ensure the sustainable security of human society, it is necessary to face up to the security threats brought by environment and climate change, strengthen international cooperation under the institutional framework, and construct a new concept of sustainable security.
