Abstract: The economic forms in the prehistoric and historical periods of the West of Liaohe River region and North of Yanshan Mountain region have the characteristics of diversity and variability. The diversity of economic forms is largely determined by the diversity of natural environment and resource endowments, and the important cause of the instability of economic forms is the changes and fluctuations of environmental factors such as climate. The historical lesson is that different regions should adopt economic forms that are suitable for the environment based on their land characteristics and resource endowments. It is necessary to choose industries based on the characteristics of the natural environment, and economic activities should not exceed the load of nature. For ecologically fragile areas such as the West of Liaohe River Basin and the North of Yanshan Mountain region, the choice of economic activity methods should be particularly cautious.
