On September 26, 2024, Yu Miaojie, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of Liaoning University met with Kanasugi Kanji, Japanese Ambassador to China, who came to Liaoning to attend the 5th China Liaoning International Fair for Investment and Trade.
Yu Miaojie extended a warm welcome to Kanasugi Kanji’s visit to Liaoning University. He noted that guided by the national policies of ‘Double First-class’ development, Liaoning University had achieved tangible fruits in the past two years in increased academic influence, remarkable results in talent recruitment and frequent international exchanges. He added that Liaoning University attaches great importance to the exchanges and cooperation with Japan by establishing the Institute of Japan Studies, the earliest comprehensive research institute on Japan and founding Japan Studies, an academic journal. He noted that the university had signed cooperation agreements with 22 Japanese universities and Liaoning University is among the top comprehensive universities in China in terms of the enrolled students majoring in Japanese. He hoped that by taking this opportunity, Liaoning University could give full play to its role with a world-class discipline to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Japanese universities and enterprises and make contributions to build Liaoning Province into a hub on openness and cooperation in Northeast Asia.
Kanasugi Kanji provided thanks to Liaoning University for its reception. He made positive remarks to Liaoning University on its fruitful achievements in international exchanges and exchanges with Japan, especially the recently-held 60th anniversary of the Institute of Japan Studies. He expected the booming development of the institute and more opportunities in the future to create more opportunities of exchanges between Japanese international students and the Chinese students in Japanese at Liaoning University.
After the meeting, Kanasugi Kanji had an exchange with the teachers and students from the Japanese Department of the School of Foreign Languages of Liaoning University on Japanese learning motives, methods, hobbies, employment and cultural understanding between China and Japan.
Japanese Consul General in Shenyang Takashi Hamada, Japanese Envoy to China Nonomura Kaitaro, Member of Standing Committee and Vice President of Liaoning University Huo Chunhui, Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Liaoning Provincial People’s Government Guo Lingjun attended the meeting.
